Hello Beautiful Souls,
Happy Weekend! Congratulations on finishing the first full week of January. I’m not sure about you but I know for Drew and I, we had to ease in to the early mornings again. We definitely indulged in the sleeping in/alarm free mornings over the Christmas season. I know many articles say to go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day including weekends but in my life, the two weeks of waking up without an alarm was well worth the one day of adjustment.
This week’s photos highlight some of the interesting finds that came my way.
Memoirs of a Geisha, Confessions of a Shopoholic, The Grinch That Stole Christmas, and Divergent are just some of the many books that have been transformed into movies. Well lo and behold, so did one of the most famous books of all times The Bible.
Produced by Roma Downey (who starred in Touched By An Angel) and Mark Burnett (who produces shows including Survivor, The Apprentice, Shark Tank, and The Voice just to name a few), The Bible originally aired as a 10-part miniseries on TV. It has been seen by over 100 million and counting and was nominated for three Emmy’s! After learning that there was a 63 person wait to borrow it from the library, we decided to buy our own copy (which you can find here). We are three chapters (each chapter is 45 mins) into it and it has certainly brought to life the stories and “heroes of faith” that we heard about. Fascinating is only the tip of the ice berg… To learn more about The Bible Series, click here.
If you look close enough, the little specks that go across the water are actually all Canadian Geese! I personally have never seen that many of them at one time. There were hundreds all going somewhere on a -29 degree celsius day!
If you haven’t already figured out by now, I am a foodie, health nut, and book worm. I love coming across a good read…especially one with beautiful photos. I have been know to on more than one occasion ask, “Does it have photos and is it in colour?” in response to book recommendations made by friends. Joyous Health definitely fits the bill. I was so fascinated that I read the book in one sitting. It is a book that you will refer to time and time again. Written by Registered Holistic Nutritionist Joy McCarthy, each page is filled with nutritional nuggets of wisdom plus tips, tricks, and recipes for living a healthier lifestyle.
They say “laughter is the best medicine” and there are numerous articles that highlight the many benefits of it. Well friends, if you want a good dose of laughter, look no further than funny man John Gray. Husband of Aventer, and proud papa of two, John travels the world sharing his love for Jesus (he is an Associate Pastor at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas) and bringing love…and laughter wherever he goes! His DVD Laughter in Black and White arrived today and we are really looking forward to watching it again and again! @lakewoodch

This may have been the most significant thing I learned this week. After the horrendous events that took place in Paris this past week, the slogan “JE SUIS CHARLIE” went viral. I first noticed this sign in my Facebook feed and I immediately texted Drew after I sent him a screen shot and said, “All I can see is JESUS.” Later that morning, I believe God revealed a glimpse of His majesty as “Je Suis” means “I AM” in French. And in The Bible, when asked “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?” Jesus said, “I AM.” (Mark 14:61-62) Whether you believe in Jesus or not, I have a sneaking suspicion that you will never see JE SUIS the same way ever again;).
