They say that the body cannot go without water for a certain amount of time.
Water is the source that hydrates our cells and enables the tiny power centres within us to do what they were designed to do.
Dirty water can cause great harm to our bodies.

I believe that Love is the water equivalent for our spiritual selves.
Unconditional Love is the source that hydrates and gives life to every ounce of our being to do and be all that we’ve been created to be.
Lack of love can cause great harm to our spiritual selves. (Just read/watch the news for overwhelming evidence of this!)

I recently came across a blog post by an incredible woman named Kara Tippetts. A mother of four, wife, and church planter in Colorado Springs, Kara has stage 4 metastatic cancer. In her new book “The Hardest Peace” and on her website “Mundane Faithfulness,” Kara shares her journey of how to #liveoutloudeveryday in the midst of chaos and uncertainty. She fights her daily fears with extraordinary faith, digs deep to be bold and brave in the midst of her brokenness, and surrendering to her mighty God trusting that her sweet Jesus has her. Grace has brought her this far and it is the grace of Jesus that will bring her (to her eternal) home. When that is? Nobody knows.
Learn more about Kara, her family, and their extraordinary journey.

The truth is dear friends, that you and I are both living and dying each day. With each breath that we take, we become more alive and yet at the same time are one breath closer to taking our last here on earth. We can’t escape this living reality that if we are breathing, there will come a point in which we take our last breath.

I write a lot about life and death, love and fear, compassion and courage because frankly, I need the reminder. Each day I am bombarded by the temptation and invite to play the fear of the future game and doubt the goodness of My God and each day, I have to intentionally choose to fight the good fight of life…with faith. Faith in the goodness…the greatness of My Amazing God who holds it all together. This doesn’t mean that I am privy to all of His secrets or that I understand everything. If anything, I’ve given up my obsession with trying to figure out everything on my own (something that I still struggle with on a daily basis) and instead desire to trust Him more. I desire to trust Him like my kooma (aunt) trusted- completely surrendering my wants and needs for what He wants for me. She demonstrated time and time again what it is like to put your hands in to the life of others. She taught me what trust is. I’m still learning.

Life is messy. More often than not, we find ourselves banged up and bruised with scar marks to show the battles we’ve faced. You are not alone. Each one of us is battling something (whether we’d like to admit it or not). Change is inevitable. Circumstances happen beyond our control. Chance doesn’t just affect some, it affects all. And in the midst of it, is our choice. Our choice: to believe or doubt, fight or flee, love or…

Friend, I don’t know who this is for (beyond a reminder to myself) or what you are going through. What I do know are the promises of My Heavenly Father:
“Perfect love casts out all fear.”-1 John 4:18
“For I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”-Jeremiah 29:11
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”-Romans 8:28
“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”-1 Corinthians 12:8
“With man it is impossible but with God all things are possible.”-Matthew 19:26
Love conquers all. True love never ends.

No matter what season of life I find myself in, I always hold close to the game-changing wisdom that St. Paul shared in his letter to the Philippians:

“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”-Philippians 4:13

Note: It doesn’t say ‘somethings on somedays’ but ALL things. That means ALL things everyday. Non-negotiable.

Friends, You are loved much more than you’ll ever know.
Wishing you the happiest week ahead.
