Many of us long for our lives to come fully assembled where our purpose is clear and little to no work has to be done. The reality is, our lives are more like a one-of-a-kind Ikea kit that needs to be assembled. The problem is, there are no specific instructions, just a guide book and a Chief Designer who whispers tips, tricks, insight, and wisdom along the way.
Sometimes it feels like we are elves in Santa’s workshop building the very thing that our world needs for this moment in time.
It’s exciting, exhilarating, frustrating, and simply complicated all at once. We think it’s a game of doing when our real job is to listen and listen well. Some call it hard work when in reality it’s really heart work-learning how to see.
The key is, nothing goes to waste. No mistake, no misstep, no missed opportunities, no pain, no heartbreak, nothing goes to waste. Nothing goes to waste when we place our lives in the hands of an incredible God. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”-Romans 8:28
Every piece has its place and contributes to the overall aesthetics and effectiveness of this mighty machine. It’s the conception of a brilliant Designer whose ways are higher than our ways and thoughts higher than our thoughts. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”-Isaiah 55:9
It’s a game of trust. It’s a game of perseverance and willingness to fail. It’s a life of love.
