Life in the Slow Lane.

It happens to the best of us.

While we attempt to “pursue” life, life flies by and before we know it another day has passed.

A couple of weeks ago, I was visiting a good friend enjoying afternoon tea and good conversation. We were doing so from her balcony which boasts a stunning view of the lake to her right, a beautiful park to the left and a view of the expressway entering and exiting the city. What’s interesting is that the people sitting in the traffic had no idea what was going on in front of them. All they knew was that their drive was taking longer than expected. But for my friend and I, we had a clear view of what was taking place even before it was going to happen. We could see when delays happened, and when things would open up. Sitting high above, we were able to see things from a different perspective.

In life, most of us spend our days like those cars in traffic. We embark on our daily lives, unaware of or not factoring the things beyond our control. We assume that everything will take shape according to our plans and our to-do lists. The truth is, that rarely if ever happens. More often than not, circumstances beyond our control collide with our daily plans and we are confronted with life: who we choose to be when things don’t go as planned. What we thought was going to be a 20 minute drive is now an hour drive.

ChoiceFreedomResponsibility
Our invite is to see things from a higher perspective-to in a way zoom out of our current situation to see the big picture. It is certainly not easy especially when we find ourselves in the midst of chaos…or traffic. As we become better at zooming out of our situations, we reap the rewards which come in the form of compassion, peace, and understanding. The question is, what will you and I choose to see and more importantly, who will you and I choose to be in the moments when life doesn’t go the way we planned? Each day provides us with ample opportunities to get frustrated, dejected, discouraged, and annoyed. On the flip side, it offers us an abundance of opportunities to see and experience the beauty and blessings that surround us each moment. One situation. Two perspectives. Two outcomes=incomes. One will rob us, the other will increase us. OBSTACLE or OPPORTUNITY? The choice is and always will be… yours.
