I am allergic to nuts-the kind that grow on trees.
As such, there are things in life that I have not tried. On more than one occasion, I have asked others what certain tree nuts taste like. It’s always funny to watch their reaction because it often begins with a puzzled look that slowly transforms into wonder. See, when you have never tasted a certain thing, it’s like having someone describe to a blind person what the sun looks like.
I think this is like many things in life. Consider those who have no concept of who God is. They are blinded to His beauty, majesty, and love and it is up to you and I to become better beacons of His light and carriers of His love.
On this day in every way, may you and I be more like Him. May the words we speak accurately and intimately reveal the incredibleness of our God. May the thoughts we think, the actions we take, the choices we make, the breath we breathe, the love we give and the gifts we share all reflect and resemble our amazing God. Nothing less is suffice.
“When Jesus is not intimately known, He can’t be accurately shown.”-Robert Madu
Each of us is blind in some form. God was intentional about that. When we are blind, we require help and it prevents us from being self-sufficient. God wants you and I to be God-dependent. His love is more than enough. He is more than enough.
Whether it be how a certain tree nut tastes, the colour of the sky, or how a certain song sounds, God is looking for those who are willing to be uncomfortable to help those who are undervalued.
“And you will be a light to guide the nations. You will open the eyes of the blind. You will free the captives from prison, releasing those who sit in dark dungeons.”-Isaiah 42:6-7
You are called. I am called. We are called.
