Ever since I began the Everyday New Project over a year ago, something has changed or rather someone. That someone being me.
I’ve always sought to be someone who doesn’t take people or things for granted and for the most part I’d like to think that being grateful comes naturally for me. But when I started this project, I became even more aware of the incredible and immense blessings all around us. Though a part of me wonders what I may have missed out on/taken for granted, I am more inspired to be even more present to the amazing things God is doing in our lives each and everyday.
May thanksgiving become a daily practice in our lives. “Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.”-Melody Beattie

Flower Power? Apparently so. These pretty little things have the ability to “reduce anxiety, negativity, and depression and might even improve memory” according to an article entitled “Need to Be Productive? Buy Some Flowers” by Laura Newcomer on Greatist. One study conducted by Jeanette Haviland-Jones Ph.D., Professor of Psychology at Rutgers found that:
“Flowers have an immediate impact on happiness. All study participants expressed “true” or “excited” smiles upon receiving flowers, demonstrating extraordinary delight and gratitude. This reaction was universal, occurring in all age groups.
Flowers have a long-term positive effect on moods. Specifically, study participants reported feeling less depressed, anxious and agitated after receiving flowers, and demonstrated a higher sense of enjoyment and life satisfaction.
Flowers make intimate connections. The presence of flowers led to increased contact with family and friends.” (click on the quote to read the full article)
The breathtaking beauty of nature reminds me that God is always near.
I used to think that life revolves around the sun when in fact the more I grow, I realize that my life revolves around the SON.
